LIECHTENSTEIN. SERBIA. First solo museum exhibition by Bojan Šarèeviæ
29/03/2012 09:03:48

In his oeuvre, Bojan Šarcevic (born in Belgrade, 1974; he lives and works in Berlin and Paris) takes an uncommon approach to essential questions regarding the structures of our society. Šarcevic does not simply inquire into the impact of mediality and the physical immanence of art, rather he specifically investigates the potential of art to contribute to contemporary Western society. Šarcevic’s exhibition draws viewers into spaces of great atmospheric density, on the cusp between fullness and emptiness, materiality and immateriality, poetry and concrete precision. He works on diverse levels of perception and experience – intellectual, sensual and physical – creating works that rhythmically alternate between stillness and movement, presence and transience.

With this solo exhibition, Šarèeviæ provides insight into the breadth of his versatile artistic output, which covers architectural installations, sculptures, films and artists’ books. The works shown here focus on sculpture and its representation. This exhibition is one in a series that introduces outstanding young artists to the public by giving them their first extensive museum exhibition. Previously featuring Rita McBride, Fabian Marcaccio, Monika Sosnowska and Matti Braun, the artists are also invited to curate a presentation from the museum’s collection.
